Documentary Family

Documentary family photography captures those simple moments of everyday life that matter the most. It’s family photos without the stress where makeup is optional and your love is enough.  This type of session gives you an opportunity to spend time together doing the things you do every day (or maybe a memorable occasion?) while I document this chapter of your family's life.

It's my job to reflect back for you the feeling in each little moment. The most beautiful moments are those that are imperfect. This is a great style for those who are comfortable showing the craziness and messiness of real life and want to document the moments in between. And guess what? Everyone gets to be in the photos. Yes, even the one in your family who is usually behind the camera.

Documentary Sessions require a different type of preparation than a family portrait session. Rather than choosing a color palette for your wardrobe, our focus will be on the memories you want to capture. We'll set up a time for me to get to know a little about your family and create a plan for your session that is unique to your family. We'll determine the best location(s), time of day, and activities together. Is it a special occasion? Vacation? A day at home? (I promise, these are NEVER boring!)

Additional products can be purchased separately after your session. I highly recommend considering an album as a keepsake for all your beautiful images. Additional print products are also available to fit any budget. Ask about discounts available for multiple sessions!

Curious about a documentary session and want to learn more?

I'd be happy to chat all day with you about this type of session because it's my absolute favorite! A fellow photographer wrote a great post explaining a bit more about this type of session. Check it out here.

How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives.
